🏃‍♂️ Today is the 37th Annual Lions Club Track Meet! 🏃‍♀️

The meet kicks off at 9:00 AM, with the awards ceremony expected around 2:00–2:30 PM.

Please remember to send sunscreen and a blanket with your student so they can stay comfortable throughout the day. We are excited for our 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students to participate in the 37th Annual Lions Track & Field Meet!! This is always a fun and memorable day for our students, and we look forward to a great event.

Please review the important information below to help ensure a smooth and successful meet:

No Phones (Missouri State Law)
Students are not allowed to have phones out during the event. They may keep them in their backpacks, but phones cannot be used. If a student needs to contact a parent, they may ask a teacher for permission.

Signing Students Out
If you plan to take your child home from the meet, you must sign them out with school staff.

Leaving After Sign-Out
Once a student is signed out, they must leave the track meet with their parent/guardian at that time.

Good luck to all our athletes! 🎉

Thank you for everything you do for your staff and students. Your support, guidance, and steady presence make a bigger impact than you probably realize. We are lucky to have you leading the way!

The 7/8 Stretch class showcased their incredible work during a Gallery Walk! 🎨
Students researched a health issue in a country of their choice, diving into the barriers behind the problem and its impact. They then transformed their learning into powerful works of art to communicate meaningful messages about these global issues.
We were excited to welcome our art critics, who evaluated the impact of each piece—thank you to Mrs. Loring, Mrs. Reichel, and Ms. Potts for lending your expertise!
It was amazing to see the creativity, passion, and powerful storytelling our students put on display. 💙

California Middle School is proud to share that our CMS Law Team competed on Monday, April 20th at the Show Me the Constitution (SMC) competition in Columbia.

This competition, hosted by The Missouri Bar, has traditionally been open only to high school students across the state. This year, our middle school students were given the unique opportunity to participate, making CMS the only middle school in attendance. It was a great chance for our students to get early exposure to real constitutional issues and build skills they will carry with them moving forward.

At the competition, students take on the role of constitutional experts, presenting prepared statements and responding to questions from a panel of judges acting as a congressional committee. These panels included professionals such as lawyers, district court judges, and Missouri Supreme Court justices, which made the experience even more meaningful.

Our 14 students competed as one team but were divided into three groups, each focusing on a different constitutional topic: Stare Decisis, Social Media and the First Amendment, and Federalism. Each group presented their arguments and then answered follow-up questions from the judges, which really pushed them to think on their feet.

Throughout the day, our students represented CMS extremely well. The judges were very impressed with their preparation, professionalism, and ability to handle challenging questions, especially considering they were competing at a high school level.

We are incredibly proud of the effort, growth, and dedication shown by this group. This was a great opportunity for our students to experience civic discourse in a real-world setting, and they definitely made the most of it.

Happy Earth Day, Pintos! 🌎💚

Today we celebrate the planet we all share and reflect on how we can take better care of it. Earth Day began on April 22, 1970, when millions of people across the United States came together to raise awareness about pollution and protect our environment. That movement led to important changes, including laws that help keep our air and water clean.

Now, more than 50 years later, Earth Day is celebrated by over a billion people around the world! 🌱

It’s a great reminder that even small actions—like recycling, conserving water, planting trees, and reducing waste—can make a big difference. As a middle school community, we have the power to create positive change. Whether it’s picking up litter on campus, turning off lights, or learning more about environmental issues—every step counts.

Let’s work together to protect our Earth—not just today, but every day. #PintoPride
