Summer school students in Mr. Felber's Week 1 Exploratory classes have been busy learning new skills and stepping into some exciting roles!
In Broadcasting, students worked in teams to create and present their own news broadcasts. Groups had the option to cover a main news story, a weather report, and a sports segment, or to choose topics that interested them most. Pictured is one of the 5th-grade groups featuring Kamryn Luebbert, Lexi Reynolds, and Kiernan Leathers. Their broadcasts covered topics such as NeeDoh safety, the Girls Basketball Camp, school rules, and a variety of sports updates. Students practiced public speaking, teamwork, and communication while creating their broadcasts.
In the Mock Trial, students learned the basics of the courtroom, including the roles of judges, attorneys, witnesses, and juries. They also explored courtroom terminology, examined evidence, and discussed how trials work. To put their learning into action, students participated in their own mock trial, giving them a firsthand look at the legal process and the importance of evaluating evidence before reaching a decision.
These hands-on experiences are helping students build confidence, critical thinking skills, and teamwork while having fun during summer school!

It’s a great day to be a Pinto! ❤️
Please make sure to sign and return your child’s Summer School Events Permission Slip by June 1st! We have several fun activities planned, including field day, the Firley YMCA, Proctor Park, and the Eldon Aquatic Center! ☀️🏀🏊
Students will not be able to attend off-campus activities without a signed permission slip on file. Please also pay close attention to IC alerts and the California Middle School Facebook page for any weather-related changes or updates.
