Students in PreK–6th grade are invited to join CHS Cheer for a fun-filled Mini Cheer Camp!

⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM
💲 $25 — includes a T-shirt, snack, and camp!
🎀 What to Wear: Athletic shoes and comfortable clothes you can move in.
Mini cheerleaders will learn a cheer, chant, and dance routine and then have the opportunity to perform their routine during halftime of the CHS Varsity Football game on Friday, October 23! 🏈📣
🏈 Halftime Performance:
The game begins at 7:00 PM. Mini cheerleaders should meet at the gate closest to the concession stand when there are 5 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter.
📝 Registration Deadline: Friday, October 9
Return the registration form and $25 payment to the Elementary, Middle School, or High School office by October 9 to ensure a T-shirt for the game.
Late registration will be accepted, but a T-shirt in time for the game is not guaranteed.

It was a beautiful and heartfelt evening at CMS as we celebrated our 8th grade softball players and all they have accomplished during their time here at the middle school. These athletes have made so many memories, built friendships, and left their mark on CMS. We are so proud of each of them as they prepare to take the next step and head to high school next year.
Tonight was also a special opportunity to remember and honor a former Pinto softball player, Izzy Williams, who would have been an 8th grader this year. Her memory remains a meaningful part of the Pinto family, and it was incredibly special to see her teammates, coaches, and our school community come together to honor her.

Today, our 7th-grade history students had the privilege of hearing from a remarkable guest — Mr. Don Hentges. A veteran of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, Mr. Hentges was awarded the Purple Heart and several other honors for his dedicated service.
He shared his personal journey with our students — the challenges he endured, the deep bonds of friendship he formed, and the sacrifice of his close friend, Willie McVea. His firsthand account provided an invaluable perspective on a pivotal chapter in history.
We are grateful to Mr. Hentges not only for his service but also for taking the time to inspire and educate our students. Experiences like this bring history to life and leave a lasting impact on our learners.

The Moniteau County Health Center is partnering with California Middle School to offer the seasonal influenza vaccine to students and their families.

The vaccine will be provided at NO COST to families, regardless of insurance eligibility.
To register and provide consent:
1. Visit patients.vaxcare.com/registration
2. Enter enrollment code: MO07917
3. Select California Middle School.
4. Complete and submit the required information.
Please note: Your child is not registered unless you see a confirmation page after submitting the form.
When completing the Payment Information section:
• Medicaid eligible: Provide your child's Medicaid number.
• Private insurance: Provide the requested insurance information if your plan is listed.
• No insurance: Select the “NO INSURANCE” option.

Our 8th graders had an incredible day exploring Missouri history and remembering an important part of our nation’s history!
First, students went through the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit, learning about the events of September 11, 2001, and honoring the lives and heroes impacted by that day.
Students then headed into the Missouri State Capitol, where they had the opportunity to visit the House Lounge, the Governor’s Office, and the Whispering Gallery. The day wrapped up in the Whispering Gallery with a short video featuring our students singing together.
It was a meaningful day filled with history, learning, and memorable experiences for our 8th graders!
